Games – Saturday & Sunday

Banana Olympic Games

On Saturday 24 March, at the same time as the Mini-Workshops, the Soils First Banana Games will be happening on the school oval at Innisfail State College.
Banana and Spoon races, banana relay races, banana tossing races…   etc.
Times and ages for these will be decided on the day and will be dependent upon numbers, but activities will start at 11:00 and continue until the Tug of War at 3:30pm .  There will be no cost for these games.

A highlight of the day will be the Tug of War – Saturday 24 March : 3:30pm

Quote from:  Snr Sgt Peter Williamson, Officer in Charge, Innisfail Police Station.  “This competition will be held at the Innisfail State College on Saturday 24th March commencing 3.30pm.  A perpetual shield plus bragging rights for 12 months, is the prize we are all competing for.

“It is now time to commence training.  to the right is a picture of members of the Innisfail QFES taken shortly after a training session.  I have also heard unconfirmed rumours that the council have been seen in training at Perry’s Bakery.  I am currently checking the CCTV to confirm this.”

Bananthon Challenge

Sponsored by LMB Bananas this run will be approximately 5km and will depart from and return to Canecutter Court starting at 8:30am on Sunday 25 March (Australian Bananas Market Day Extravaganza).      It is open to any runners with a prize pool of various vouchers and prizes kindly donated by local businesses.      A perpetual trophy is also on offer proudly donated by Furniture World – this event also comes with 12 months bragging rights.
This is the first of what we hope will be an annual event, growing in stature as the years pass.
